Principal's Message

Pirate Parents and Stakeholders,

My name is Carlos Scott, and I am extremely humbled to be named Principal at Coronado Elementary, a school with a legacy of rich tradition and academic excellence. For the past twenty-three years, I have served Volusia County Schools in different capacities including as a teacher at Sunrise Elementary, an Assistant Principal at DeLand High School, and as Principal at Woodward Avenue Elementary and Friendship Elementary. My years of experience have helped me to realize the importance of engaging all stakeholders in the learning process of our students.  

As a life-long learner, I am very passionate about education. I have experienced firsthand the impact a quality education can have on a young person’s life. Parents are every child’s first teacher. I believe by working together, we can ensure your child’s academic, emotional, and social needs are met. I look forward to partnering with you to provide all students a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality elementary school experience. 

It is my belief that all students can reach their maximum potential with the right support, guidance, and plan! Therefore, to make this belief a reality for all Pirates, we must provide avenues for relationship building and collaboration, allow students to engage in productive struggle, use technology to enhance learning, and continue to progress-monitor students’ assessment results to identify areas of focus. Our mission is simple: Teach Every Kid, Every Day!

The faculty and staff of Coronado Beach Elementary believes in our mission: Through focused collaboration, the teachers, faculty, and staff of Coronado Beach Elementary will work together to encourage best practices around academics, behavior, and citizenship resulting in academic success, and a positive impact on achievement for all. We encourage you to continue to support our quest of making a positive difference in every child’s life by being active participants in Coronado Beach’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Advisory Council (SAC). Both parent engagement groups share the goal of improving the academic performance of all students by engaging families and stakeholders in the school’s decision-making process. With your participation and support, our Pirates will excel academically, and Coronado Beach will achieve our goal of academic excellence for all students.
